Food and Hygiene – Health and hygiene preliminary concerns hence do check for the quality of food offers and hygiene like cleanliness in the premises, toys and play equipment are cleaned and washed properly, drinking water and the refrigerators, beds and play area as well, if possible.

VSE celebrated Chairman’s birthday on 21 September 2013

Vydehi School of Excellence, a premier school in Bangalore, celebrated its Chairman late D. K. Audikesavulu Naidu’s birthday on 21 September 2013. D. K. Audikesavulu Naidu, Founder of Vydehi Institute of Medical Science and Research Centre was always a humanist who stood for the well being of his country’s people. It was his life’s mission to head a medical centre that could provide a world class healthcare system to the public at very affordable cost and a medical and other educational institution with state-of-the-art technology that focus on the research in medical science and integrates the quality of overall education. D. K. Audikesavulu Naidu was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India and had been the prestigious TTK chairman twice. An engineer by qualification, D. K. Audikesavulu Naidu went on to create a successful business empire spanning various industries. He passed away on April 24, 2013 after a brief illness. Our students visited his Samadhi (place where he rests in peace) and offered their prayers. Teachers accompanied the students and helped them through the proceedings.

Vydehi School of Excellence celebrated Teachers’ Day with great enthusiasm on 5^th September 2013 at Vydehi School of Excellence. The event was very special especially because it was completed planned and managed by our students. The event kick started with our tiny tots welcoming their teachers, on their arrival, by applying ‘the traditional tilak’ on their forehead. A special assembly was conducted after this and students paid their tribute to Dr. Radhakrishnan, the first vice president of India whose birthday is celebrated as Teacher’s day in India and to their beloved teachers through speeches, poems, skits and dances. The event was concluded with each teacher receiving a memento as a token of appreciation for their efforts, by the management.

Freedom is a state of mind that lets you express your thoughts without fearing any individual or any other entity in an irrational manner. When it comes to political space, freedom is an essential aspect for any country to be sovereign. Each and every individual has their own customized definition for freedom. Without freedom, an individual won’t be able to make use of his/her absolute potential to the highest of levels and hence it will be impossible for him/her to accomplish great missions in life. Every one of us needs freedom because it makes us live naturally and earn a life we rightfully deserve. India, our country, has a glorious past with rich tradition and culture and we had great natural resources. But misfortune dawned on the country when it was invaded by foreign rulers. As a direct effect, rich resources of the country were looted, without showing the slightest hint of mercy. But Indians woke up, from the initial hang over and glitter of British rule and found out that it is essential to free our mother land from the invaders and thus sacrificed their lives for our country. The freedom we enjoy today is the result of their sacrifice and hardships, fuelled by patriotism.

Vydehi School of Excellence celebrated the Independence Day on 14^th August 2013, with the eternal favour of patriotism and instilled the importance of being a true Indian in the core, in children.VSE, this time, observed ‘Incredible India’ theme for Independence Day as the salutation to the rich heritage of this country and its real heroes. The celebration lasted almost a week. Principal Mrs. Laly Mathews hosted the National flag and gave a speech laying emphasis on the importance of Independence Day and urged the students to become responsible citizens and prepare themselves to serve the nation as good leader, administrator, engineer, doctor etc. The flag hoisting ceremony was followed by the speech by the head boy who emphasized the importance of acknowledging the great struggle made by our freedom fighters and the challenges our nation faces today. He urged the students to be responsible and patriotic citizens and prepare themselves to serve the nation in their individual capacities.

Students were enthusiastic and thrilled to participate in the celebrations and some of them presented colourful skits, sang patriotic songs and recited poems, remembering the heroes of the freedom struggle. The children listed many ways to move towards independence, which also meant self sustainability, self reliance and self worth. The main motto of VSE Independence Day celebration was “celebrate your independence by practicing it”. Students of the Rehabilitation Centre of Vydehi also participated, carrying banners calling for empathy and inclusion. The passion and energy level of the students were contagious and the staff had their share of fun too in the Independence Day Celebrations.

VSE Poetry Recitation Competition 2013

Vydehi School of Excellence, a premier school in Bangalore organized the final round of the Recitation Competition on 19^th January 2013. The finalists of this Primary School Poetry Recitation competition had to excel in memorizing and reciting the poetry of their choice, with confidence. The theme of the poetry was declared as “Nature”. The concept offered the students a wide range of choices to pick up from and finalists recited beautiful poems with great control in voice modulation.

VSE believes that poetry recitation is an effective method for students to increase their appreciation for language and cement their mastery over public speaking. Such school activities forces our new generation to find hidden gems in literature and it develops their creative thinking and imagining capability. As Einstein said imagination is greater than knowledge and encouraging students to be creative is as important as academics. Promoting our students to write fiction and poetry is a regular practice in Vydehi School and this Recitation Competition was devoted to the promotion of poetry in education. Reciting poems in front of a huge audience will boost students’ confidence and will help to develop personal relationships by gaining more self esteem. The competition began at the classroom level and in the finale, it had become a school level competition. Finalists gave a poetry reciting performance before a huge audience comprising students from all classes. Four teachers who have great knowledge in poetry were present as judges. They judged the winners, according to their performance, way of reciting, confidence level and quality of the poem. Winners emerged in both groups are listed below:

VSE School In Bangalore Republic Day Celebrations 2013

Vydehi School of Excellence, a premier school in Bangalore, celebrated Republic day on 24 January with great enthusiasm and enchanting spirit. The children participated actively in the Republic Day celebrations held on 24th January. The theme of the Special Assembly (Republic Day) was “Unity in Diversity”. The preamble of our Constitution was read out by the students. The idea was to inform all the students about our country’s constitution that paved the whole design for our country’s future.

Republic Day Celebrations in Vydehi Primary School witnessed most students of Vydehi School of Excellence wear Gandhi Topi that added a white color tone to the whole assembly section. Gandhi Topi is an indicative of the Swadeshi Movement happened in India, in the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi himself. In Swadeshi movement, Gandhiji and his followers boycotted foreign goods and In Gandhiji’s opinion the white Topi was light and elegant and it gradually evolved as a symbol of India and nationalism. To remind those times and passion of independence struggle, many of our students also wore Indian clothes such as Kurta and Pyjama.

To wear such ethnic outfits was the idea of teachers in VSE as it will help to light up the memory of our great freedom fighters. The preamble of our Constitution was read out by the students. Many children also wore outfits that had Indian flag’s tri-color on them. They also wore badges on their outfits with labels such as ‘justice, ‘liberty’ and ‘fraternity’ imprinted on them. These concepts echoed the slogans of our independence struggle. The assembly concluded with a beautiful song “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara” sung by the students. Vydehi School of Excellence believes in reminding the future generations of the struggles their ancestors had gone through to make our country a free paradise. Such school activities help to create awareness about our great freedom struggle in new generation.It is very important for the future generation to know the past because it enlightens them to act responsibly and stand for national causes.

Vydehi School Of Excellence Childrens Day Celebration 2012

Children’s day was a special day for the students of ‘Vydehi School of Excellence’ as it was one of those occasions which both primary school students and play school students attended together. As a big event which featured both teachers and all the students, it was planned carefully. A poster made in blue colored paper carried a photo of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawahar Lal Nehru who was also fondly called ‘Chacha Nehru’ (Uncle Nehru) by Kids. It is on his birthday, India celebrates ‘Children’s day” to honor them. On the day, children were allowed to come in their favorite dress so they can relax more and have fun. Many teachers gave speeches, referring Children’s day and its significance while others sang and danced for children. The music teacher of the school played melodious music on his electronic keyboard, which heightened the ambience of the event. There was music, dance and drama in this enchanting cultural event which kept the spirit of children high. The whole event was designed as a token of love from the teachers to the lovely kids.

To add more fun to the event, teachers have taken up the role of drama artists and sang and dance to cheer the kids. In drama, teachers wore the costumes of kings and his courtiers with funny make up and fake moustaches, which offer a great deal of laughter to children. Teachers also participated in an Indian folk dance in which one needs to clap using sticks, in accordance with the rhythm. The clap sound also contributed to the vibrant ambience in the hall where Vydehi Primary school celebrated the Children’s day.

There was also a great magic treat named ‘Abbara Ka Dabra’, conducted by a fabulous magician, which left the students spell-bound. Magician was very friendly with the kids and made them participate in his magic tricks, which turned out as a wonderful experience for them.

Diwali, a celebration of light and hope, is considered as one of our national festivals, which conveys the promising moral idea, ‘victory of good over evil’. India usually celebrate this luminous festival with lighting up ‘Dia’ and bursting fire crackers up, thanks to their symbolic meanings- Light of ‘Dia’ gets rid of darkness of ignorance and fire crackers are burst to drive away bad spirits. The word ‘Diwali’ is an abbreviation of the word “Deepavali” which means ‘row of lamps’. In this inspiring festive mood, Vydehi School of Excellence, Bangalore celebrated their Diwali day on 8^thNovember, this year.

The event saw great enthusiasm from both students of primary and pre primary section and teachers as they celebrated it with Dias(lamps), Rangoli(flower carpet) and candles. To add more fun to the event, teachers and students made their own customized candles and Diyas. An interesting ballet which showcased the life of Lord Rama till he returned to Ayodhya was presented by LKG children as the myth behind Diwali is the victory of Lord Rama over Raavana. Play school children had frolicking fun, participating in the ballet which told the greatest legend of all times. The message of ‘the ultimate victory of good over evil’ is conveyed through the ballet. Kids were dressed up in ancient-style clothes to present the ballet with originality and the impact of the ballet on the audience was overwhelming. All students were really excited to be a part of this lustrous celebration. Teachers and LKG students made a huge flower carpet, which heightened the flavor of the festive ambience. A few teachers spoke at event praising the great message of Diwali.

Primary School Sports Week Vydehi School Of Excellence

The Sports event for the primary school section was conducted in Vydehi School of Excellence, on 8th November 2012. Children were overwhelmed with their passion for sports and teachers organized the event in a way that it kept everybody very spirited from the beginning to end. The event, which is a part of the primary education, was all about showcasing students’ stamina, strength and intellect by participating in various outdoor- and indoor sports competition. The preliminary rounds of both indoor and outdoor games took place from 5th to 7th November. Chess and Carrom were the most sought after indoor games while baton relay and 100 meters were the favorites among outdoor games.

Many kids from primary school section participated in this event which lasted for one and half hours and inspired them to be healthy and fit. The organizers have taken the challenge of making many kids participate in the competition heads-on and won it with absolute support from children. Fifteen teachers including the headmistress of the school were present at the ground, during the event. While there were six participants for every competition in the event, 4 members were there in each team for baton relay competition.
Regarding their age, the relay participants are divided into three groups. There were five teams up for the baron relay game and each team had two members. Kids wore white shirts and ash color pants for the sports event. The primary school students from grade 1 to grade 5 participated in the competition. 8 tracks of 100 meters length were made for various sports competitions.
