Vydehi School of Excellence, a premier school in Bangalore organized the final round of the Recitation Competition on 19^th January 2013. The finalists of this Primary School Poetry Recitation competition had to excel in memorizing and reciting the poetry of their choice, with confidence. The theme of the poetry was declared as “Nature”. The concept offered the students a wide range of choices to pick up from and finalists recited beautiful poems with great control in voice modulation.

VSE believes that poetry recitation is an effective method for students to increase their appreciation for language and cement their mastery over public speaking. Such school activities forces our new generation to find hidden gems in literature and it develops their creative thinking and imagining capability. As Einstein said imagination is greater than knowledge and encouraging students to be creative is as important as academics. Promoting our students to write fiction and poetry is a regular practice in Vydehi School and this Recitation Competition was devoted to the promotion of poetry in education. Reciting poems in front of a huge audience will boost students’ confidence and will help to develop personal relationships by gaining more self esteem. The competition began at the classroom level and in the finale, it had become a school level competition. Finalists gave a poetry reciting performance before a huge audience comprising students from all classes. Four teachers who have great knowledge in poetry were present as judges. They judged the winners, according to their performance, way of reciting, confidence level and quality of the poem. Winners emerged in both groups are listed below:

Vkids-Vydehi School Annual Day 2012-2013

Vydehi School of Excellence celebrated its 2nd Annual Day Function on 23rd February 2013. This event was a music extravaganza as it witnessed many musical performances from the participants. Our eminent guests inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. Then vkids and Vydehi school students sang invocation song and that lightened up the whole auditorium. Principal Mrs. Lally Mathew gave a warm and heartfelt speech in which she mentioned the commendable progress of students during last year. Chief Guest and the managing committee members distributed the prizes for all round proficiency. School teachers made sure that each and every child was appreciated on stage, for the best qualities they have.

The tiny tots of the school made a sterling display of talent by dancing to a Japanese song tune while Goan dance by Nursery children added to the fervour of the evening. The whole event was a wonderful fusion of eastern & western cultures through a harmonious blend of rhythm & dance.

The most riveting performance was the dance drama based on the history of Karnataka . The drama exuded opulence and grandeur of Hoysala dynasty, which took the audience to a different time zone. The program reached an expected joyful climax with the grand finale and become a sweet memory to cherish for everyone.

Primary School Sports Week Vydehi School Of Excellence

The Sports event for the primary school section was conducted in Vydehi School of Excellence, on 8th November 2012. Children were overwhelmed with their passion for sports and teachers organized the event in a way that it kept everybody very spirited from the beginning to end. The event, which is a part of the primary education, was all about showcasing students’ stamina, strength and intellect by participating in various outdoor- and indoor sports competition. The preliminary rounds of both indoor and outdoor games took place from 5th to 7th November. Chess and Carrom were the most sought after indoor games while baton relay and 100 meters were the favorites among outdoor games.

Many kids from primary school section participated in this event which lasted for one and half hours and inspired them to be healthy and fit. The organizers have taken the challenge of making many kids participate in the competition heads-on and won it with absolute support from children. Fifteen teachers including the headmistress of the school were present at the ground, during the event. While there were six participants for every competition in the event, 4 members were there in each team for baton relay competition.
Regarding their age, the relay participants are divided into three groups. There were five teams up for the baron relay game and each team had two members. Kids wore white shirts and ash color pants for the sports event. The primary school students from grade 1 to grade 5 participated in the competition. 8 tracks of 100 meters length were made for various sports competitions.
