VSE Poetry Recitation Competition 2013

Vydehi School of Excellence, a premier school in Bangalore organized the final round of the Recitation Competition on 19^th January 2013. The finalists of this Primary School Poetry Recitation competition had to excel in memorizing and reciting the poetry of their choice, with confidence. The theme of the poetry was declared as “Nature”. The concept offered the students a wide range of choices to pick up from and finalists recited beautiful poems with great control in voice modulation.

VSE believes that poetry recitation is an effective method for students to increase their appreciation for language and cement their mastery over public speaking. Such school activities forces our new generation to find hidden gems in literature and it develops their creative thinking and imagining capability. As Einstein said imagination is greater than knowledge and encouraging students to be creative is as important as academics. Promoting our students to write fiction and poetry is a regular practice in Vydehi School and this Recitation Competition was devoted to the promotion of poetry in education. Reciting poems in front of a huge audience will boost students’ confidence and will help to develop personal relationships by gaining more self esteem. The competition began at the classroom level and in the finale, it had become a school level competition. Finalists gave a poetry reciting performance before a huge audience comprising students from all classes. Four teachers who have great knowledge in poetry were present as judges. They judged the winners, according to their performance, way of reciting, confidence level and quality of the poem. Winners emerged in both groups are listed below:

VSE School In Bangalore Republic Day Celebrations 2013

Vydehi School of Excellence, a premier school in Bangalore, celebrated Republic day on 24 January with great enthusiasm and enchanting spirit. The children participated actively in the Republic Day celebrations held on 24th January. The theme of the Special Assembly (Republic Day) was “Unity in Diversity”. The preamble of our Constitution was read out by the students. The idea was to inform all the students about our country’s constitution that paved the whole design for our country’s future.

Republic Day Celebrations in Vydehi Primary School witnessed most students of Vydehi School of Excellence wear Gandhi Topi that added a white color tone to the whole assembly section. Gandhi Topi is an indicative of the Swadeshi Movement happened in India, in the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi himself. In Swadeshi movement, Gandhiji and his followers boycotted foreign goods and In Gandhiji’s opinion the white Topi was light and elegant and it gradually evolved as a symbol of India and nationalism. To remind those times and passion of independence struggle, many of our students also wore Indian clothes such as Kurta and Pyjama.

To wear such ethnic outfits was the idea of teachers in VSE as it will help to light up the memory of our great freedom fighters. The preamble of our Constitution was read out by the students. Many children also wore outfits that had Indian flag’s tri-color on them. They also wore badges on their outfits with labels such as ‘justice, ‘liberty’ and ‘fraternity’ imprinted on them. These concepts echoed the slogans of our independence struggle. The assembly concluded with a beautiful song “Mile Sur Mera Tumhara” sung by the students. Vydehi School of Excellence believes in reminding the future generations of the struggles their ancestors had gone through to make our country a free paradise. Such school activities help to create awareness about our great freedom struggle in new generation.It is very important for the future generation to know the past because it enlightens them to act responsibly and stand for national causes.

VSE Independence Day Celebration 2012

With advent of August we are reminded of the most memorable day of the life of any Indian, the day is none other than the Independence Day. Independence Day, one of the three national holidays in India, is observed in all states and union territories of India. The special assembly on “Independence Day” was held in Vydehi School Of Excellence, it was informative and enjoyable. The school wore a festive look and the Tricolour was unfurled at the schools on the following day. Patriotic songs were played to mark the Independence Day. There were several other events to show respect to the martyrs of freedom struggle of India .

The stood round the flag pole d class wise and the teachers stood behind them. On the Principal’s request, the founder of the school came forward to perform the flag-hoisting ceremony. The students stood in attention and saluted the flag. After the flag hoisting ceremony the national anthem was sung. The flag hoisting ceremony came to a close with a few speeches delivered by the staff and the manager. The speeches highlighted the importance of this day and urged the students to become responsible citizens and prepare themselves to serve the nation as good leader, administrator, engineer, doctors etc.

The speakers urged the students to remember the sacrifices of the patriots and martyrs who laid down their lives in the freedom struggle and to pay tributes to those who fought to free their motherland from the clutches of foreign rule. It was a rich learning experience for the students of Vydehi School Of Excellence who cherished the value of freedom and patriotism. The students of the school presented a colorful cultural programme like patriotic songs, portraying the characters of our leaders and many more. Sweets and snacks were distributed amongst the students.
